The Story

Briar Swim started with a vision I couldn't quite find anywhere else.

I would have an idea for a bikini in my head, from the shape and colour to the little details, but when I looked for it, it just wasn't there. I wanted to wear the things I imagined, so eventually I decided to make them myself.

I learnt to sew when I was 13 and completely fell in love with it. I started by making my own clothes, and eventually realised I could make my own bikinis too. The more I made, the more I started thinking, if I love this, maybe someone else will too.

And that's where Briar Swim came from.

How It's Made

Briar Swim is a place for the bikinis I want to exist. Sometimes that's a bold print or something covered in little details, and sometimes it's just a really good solid colour bikini. I love colour and pieces that stand out, but I also love the simplicity of a bikini that just gets it right.

Every piece is made to order and handmade by me in my sewing room in Auckland, New Zealand. There isn't a pile of ready made stock waiting to be shipped. When you place an order, I make your piece for you.

Still Small, By Design

Briar Swim is still small, but that's what I love about it. Every bikini starts as an idea in my head, gets turned into something real by hand, and eventually becomes something you get to wear.
